Don't sweat! Read to get the slimmer, Sexier You!

BookcerciseHave you taken a good look in the mirror recently? I mean a really good, candid, scrutinizing look at yourself? Do you notice anything new, like those ten extra pounds you’ve put on since bikini season? Don’t worry, we’ve all noticed. Fortunately, not everyone has been blissfully oblivious to such instances of rapid and unforeseen weight gain. The research team at Iris Reading has been hard at work trying to find a fast, easy solution to reverse your weight gain. Yes, we’ve been successful and no, you won’t even have to lift a finger.

In less than two weeks, you too can have the body that you’ve been dreaming of. Ditch those sit-ups and jogging tights and grab a good book because you’re in for something better than washboard abs and firm quadriceps. The secret to a healthier, sexier you is simple: start speed reading.

Yes, you’ve read it right. Our certified company physician recommends about an hour and a half of accelerated reading per day to get the results that we promise. Maintain a healthy diet of periodicals and don’t forget to grab a newspaper for breakfast every morning. Sit back and brace yourself for an intense mental workout every day between meals. We guarantee results or your money back. As a matter of fact, call us now to ask about our two-week trial period, absolutely free! Boost your confidence today! You have nothing to lose but those unsightly lovehandles and maybe a chin or two.

So what’s the scientific evidence behind the claims of speed reading? Does it really work or is this another weight loss scam? Most importantly, is speed reading a safe alternative to the traditional diet and excercise? Read on to learn more about the miracle of speed reading.
Reading is a function of the occipital and temporal lobes of the brain. The speed that you read is an important factor in burning calories at a higher rate compared to reading slowly. The neurons used in cognitive activities work at a much higher speed and ATP (usable energy) is chemically converted at 150% the normal rate. Did you know that you can burn about 50 calories per minute by speed reading? That’s 42 more calories per minute than sit-ups and 38 more than jogging. Your choice of excercise is pretty obvious after considering these statistics.
Now that you’ve heard the benefits of speed reading, take into the account the detriments of not doing so. Reading slowly can actually have the reverse effect on your metabolism. Your body retains four times the carbohydrates and ten times the calories that could be lost in reading faster. If you choose to lose weight the traditional way at the gym, you risk possible injury, dehydration, and embarassment in the locker room. Why step out of your house (or even off the couch) when everything you need to get to a better you is right here in your hands? Don’t waste valuable time! By this time next month, you can get the results you’ve always wanted, guaranteed. Don’t wait, speed dial Iris now and start speed reading today!

Make this Holiday’s Gifting the “Apple” of Your Eye

It seems that no matter where you go these days, sleigh bells jingle incessantly and shopping mall Santas merrily toss candy canes your way. There’s no doubt that the holidays are inching closer and closer. So while you innocently stand beneath that mistletoe and coyly eye the passersby, think about what the holiday season is really about: lots and lots of giving—gift-giving. Here’s making the gift-buying decision a little easier for you.

In every family, including yours, there’s that one college student. Lucky for you, college students are simple people; wrap up a dorm-room refrigerator or flat-screen TV and you’re their favorite aunt or uncle. Take the extra step and make this year special with one of Apple’s great products for students. There’s no doubt that Macbooks and iPads will be flying off the shelves this holiday season. There’s also no question that these gifts are the like the Holy Grail of higher education. You already know that. But did you know that you can make your little elf’s Christmas present even better by downloading this neat widget onto their Macbook?

Enter Tofu Technology. Developed by British software designer Amar Sagoo, this program allows reading text on the screen a little easier on the eyes. Take a few minutes to visit http://amarsagoo.info/tofu and download Tofu onto any Apple computer product before you gift it away. What does this program do, exactly? Tofu reorganizes the text on any webpage into narrow columns. Instead of scrolling down the page, readers can scroll sideways, like turning the pages of a book. The idea is that scrolling down the screen of a conventional web page strains the eyes. It also slows down reading speed considerably since the eyes are used to reading horizontally rather than vertically. Furthermore, it allows for easier text navigation. Type in any keyword and Tofu directs you to its location in the text. Some more cool features include voice-command and system-wide service, so you can drag text and read it with Tofu.

Tofu allows the web text to mimic that of a newspaper or textbook and creates short, organized columns of words instead of long paragraphs that your eyes can lose themselves in easily. The portions of words will prevent overwhelming information and visual instability. The only setback to this software is that it’s compatible only to Mac technology. But with the growing utility and popularity of Apple products, don’t let that cramp your style. The company has been gaining much attention among college students and young professionals in the consumer market this year. Apple is hip, young, and practical. And with the loads of reading that your loved one is inevitably doing, use Tofu to lessen the strain of reading on a screen. The increased reading speed result also doesn’t hurt come exam time.

So as you plan your route through the mall this month, don’t forget to make a stop at the Apple store. Make this year’s best investment in your loved one’s name and purchase that Macbook he or she has been eyeing for so long. Paired with Mr. Sagoo’s software, this makes the perfect gift for almost anyone on your list. Grab some gift wrap and prepare for lots of holiday love this season!

Poem About Management

A perfect Manager
Is  my perfect challenger,
He  is a planner and  a balancer,
He is a driver and not a passenger.

To get his point across
He plays the role of active boss,
To make the right decision
He will refer to his bigger vision

Manager knows the bigger picture
Step-by-step like Bob the builder
He takes us to the final goal,
Where every employee plays an important role.

Manager values my honest opinion
Based on my feedback
He produces results
Just like a magician.

He communicates what needs to be accomplished
His expectations and what being great looks like
This helps me succeed and my career flourish
And feeds my inner motivations and psyche.

the power of vision.

I truly believe that anything I want for myself and my life is available to me. Throughout my life, I could never understand limits, boundaries and rules. Unfortunately, people are in agreement that a every person has it's limit, depending on where they start their life; in Harlem or Manhattan. I am pretty sure that this kind of limit is a fallacy. This fallacy was created by people who could not handle the thrill of the potential victory. I know I can and I will!!!

What I already know:

I know that I will have a prosperous business which will make a difference in the world. My company will be helping kids in Harlem get the education they want, the education of their dream! It's not their  fault that they are born in a low performing areas in the Bronx and Harlem. Those kids fight for a place in a Charter school where they can get a better education and a better life. To get to a charter school they have to win a lottery where there are 3000 applicants for 495 places. For this lottery thing couldn't get higher. They change their vision once they get into a charter school. With the vision comes a change in their value and change in their life.
One of the most immediate business goals for me is to sponsor Charter Schools and provide proper training for the kids. I want to give money to someone as powerful as Eva Moskowitz, who is the founder of the success academy.
I believe that a gift of reading should be given to kids at an early age so that they will  enjoy doing the homework. From loving their school they will go to loving themselves and their lives.
My next goal is to create multiple educational programs for children and adults focusing on different subjects like personal finance and idea management.
My next personal goal is launching a marketing campaign that will create a strong brand with strong personality. My own idea is to make reading and speed-reading in particular appealing to the people. Make them believe that it is not a gimmick and make it real for them.
My third goal is to turn IRIS Reading into an international community of people for whom surpassing themselves is a part of DNA.

One of the dreams I have is to transform the college environment  in Russia. Being a college student there I used to get a nice stipend from the Potanin’s Fund.( He is one of the Oligarchs there) Having good grades wasn’t enough to get the stipend, you had to have A+ for at least a couple f classes, in addition to a complex multi level elimination. There was no topic or subject; it was an IQ and communication skill check. Money is a great motivator, so it made me go an extra mile with my learning and now I am so grateful to Mr.Potanin, but not for an extra cash he provided monthly to the winners, but for making me read so much and get involved in the student life.
To qualify for the program I went to Germany and served in a Nazi concentration camp there in Dahau for the whole summer. When I saw one in the movie about vision, it spoke to my heart. I realized the connection between the vision and survival. Only those who had something at stake managed to go through the camp. Only they had something to lose.

I know that if Harlem kids will get a vision that college is possible for them, they will go extra two miles and do the best they can in school and in life.

In it to win it!

I personally think that Professor. Edward B Kurpis created an environment in the class here had very low power and left us in control.  He gave us the resources and encouragement to make our decisions. He did not play any direct role in group deliberation and allowed us to make decisions within a reasonable limit. This being said, he created an environment for us where each of us had to act in some way, because everyone had something at stake there.
Silence was broken by Vinny, who  suggested working in  groups. Nobody, including my humble self, supported his idea.  This caused Vinny’s withdrawal, which impacted my behavior in many ways. It is much harder to hear out 60 people than 5-10 structured group opinions.
But everyone was ready to start expressing their opinion immediately and class began turning into chaos. A single leader took charge and I personally felt safer after that.
I did not exactly like the way he was handling the situation. Please, don’t make it mean I could have done better, but he was not able to maintain a safe brainstorming setting.  5 minutes in the discussion I couldn’t sit in my chair any more. I acted according to a “compete to win “pattern.  I suggested the voluntary extra credit assignment, which was a part of the common agreement. I behave assertive, because my grade was at stake.  However, I am present to the fact that I was in it for everybody to win.

How this could be done differently? Groups... Perhaps. If we had more time.
I am not sure of the outcome, but I would be interested to know what the result would be if professor would leave the room during the discussion?

Plan your work and work your plan

Hope you guys found this exercise useful, I did;-)

There were 8 members in our group. Working on the project we went through all the steps in the planning process. I think it comes  intuitively.

First, we defined our goal, which was to drop the egg from 10 feet  and not to break it.

Our Objective was to make such a structure out of tape and straws which will allow this n(our goal)  to happen.
We had several alternative strategies which were presented by different group members. We had 3 legible plans for action. After evaluating all three of them we determined their strengths and weaknesses. One of the three was to break the egg and take out the yolk. This idea was rejected by the professor.
During the last period we analyzed the alternatives and came to the conclusion that we should use a synthesis of the two.
We implemented the plan successfully and reached our goal.
Team’s ultimate performance was effective. However, with better division of labor, we could have completed the task quicker and more efficient.
It occurred to me that one member of our group was not engaged.
On my part, I did not try to engage her in the process either. Possibly, she could have contributed to the team and benefited from the game herself.

One more time, great experience and great work team!!!

About Me, myself and I.

I am a very determined young woman who takes her passions but not herself very seriously, who is open to the world and receives every curveball thrown to her by life with enthusiasm and optimism. I am committed to living a life powerfully and living a life I love and can be proud of. I want to be a contribution to every person I meet in my life. I root for feminism and would love to set up a women empowerment program of my own. I am an aspiring entrepreneur and am convinced that I was born to establish a new icon in the world of decorative cosmetics and skincare. I am living a blessed life but hold fast to reality. I am an ardent reader who is determined to devote her twenties to making speed reading a full blown phenomenon in New York City, New York State and beyond.

I want to travel to the far corners of the world being an ambassador of peace and ease. I am a Jack of all trades and the master of thereof as well. I believe in God and live my life in accordance with his essence. God believes in me too. I love my job; in fact it doesn’t even feel like a job. Iris Reading Corp. has breathed vitality and energy into my life. I play my job. And am winning so far.

My family lives in Russia. My parents have their own businesses. My family means everything to me. And so does my best friend and soul mate Mariya. Together we are a dream team.
